Connecting the Dots
Integrity is about bringing the various parts of your life together into a whole, connecting the dots.
Not as easy as it appears.
I’m curious and passionate about a lot of things, but I tend to keep them siloed off. I need help from someone else to spot the connections between them.
I’m a cook, a painter and a writer. How do all these interests make sense together? How do the parts of me make a whole?
I wrote a cookbook, with paintings as illustrations. My friend proofed the draft and told me, with a gleam in her eye, “Harriet, this is more than a cookbook.” Then an editor friend said, “Interesting book. Put the stories and art first, then the recipes.” What?
I’m learning to follow my passions and trust that it will all come together in the end, with a little help from my friends.
